1st Day of School

Colton started "school" this year. He is going to the Westwood church of Christ's Day School two days a week. So far he is loving it. He has no doubts about going as he bounds out of the car and says "bye, Mom". I, on the other hand, had a little harder time dropping him off the first couple of times and asked Jason over and over, "why are we doing this?". I am glad he likes it, though. It is an organized social time which is great for him because he is a social bug - and hopefully he'll have his colors down by the end of the year! Everything is still green to him.
I am a little ashamed of myself, however. I dropped the ball on the first day of school cookies. My Mom used to always have homemade cookies the 1st day of school and I was determined to do the same. After we ran a couple of errands, though, I didn't have time. Jason told me it was OK there was still time as school technically doesn't start until kindergarten. He did take us for 1st day of school ice cream when we picked Colton up to make up for it! Here are some pics from the 1st day.

Yes, "Spot" is going to school, too Too busy to stop for a pic

Next Michael Phelps??

Jason and I love to watch the Olympics. We were those people drinking the extra cup of coffee and wearing sunglasses to hide our bloodshot eyes from staying up until midnight or 1am to see who won. Colton enjoyed watching them with us, too. One day, as we were driving home he asked where we were going. I told him home and he said "oh, go watch 'lympics?" I told him yes we were going to watch the swimming again. (We especially enjoyed watching the historic 8 golds won by Michael Phelps.) He thought for a second and then said, "Colton swim 'lympics". Jason and I told him that it would be great if he wanted to swim in the Olympics - we would come cheer him on. I think the excitement has worn off now as he says "no" when you ask him if he's going to swim in the Olympics.

Colton does love to swim, though, and has no fear. Here he is getting ready to jump off the diving board and is swimming back to the side to do it again. I enjoy watching him even though he scares me a lot. Somehow I don't think a 2 1/2 year old understands what it entails to be an Olympic swimmer but it does make for a fun story!! Who knows maybe he'll go for Phelps' new record!
